Cherry Creek Spillway Flush Means Higher Water Levels In Downtown Denver Wednesday Afternoon

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- The Army Corps of Engineers is flushing the spillways at Cherry Creek Reservoir. Copter4 flew over the spillway before the velocity was increased on Wednesday.

The flush scours out all the sediment that gets caught around the gates. It sends water down Cherry Creek but typically takes about six hours to arrive downtown.

The higher water levels will show up in downtown Denver about midafternoon and continue through Wednesday evening.
