Missing Littleton Woman's Boyfriend Facing Unrelated Sex Assault Charges

By Jennifer Brice

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - There's a search underway in Littleton for a missing woman and police have opened a criminal investigation into the case.

Nobody has heard from or seen Charlene Voight, 36, since July 8. Police found Voight's car in a dirt lot off Rio Grande, not far from an apartment in Parker where she had a registered address. They believe she may have been staying there since moving to Colorado from California. Her car is now being processed for evidence.

In the meantime, CBS4 has learned Voight's boyfriend has also been arrested in an unrelated case.

Voight's family told police it had been days since they heard from her, which was unusual, according to Cmdr. Trent Cooper of the Littleton Police Department.

"She was very family-oriented and stayed in contact with her family and sister on a regular basis," Cooper said.

Police say Voight moved to Colorado only a few weeks ago. They are still unclear if she had a permanent address yet. Cooper says Voight's "on again, off again" boyfriend, Jeffrey Beier, was living in Centennial. Their investigation found that the couple's relationship was known to be volatile.

While searching for people who knew Voight locally, detectives say they arrested Beier on an unrelated sex assault charge. Police say someone who knew Voight reported the alleged assault.

"We came about the sex assault allegations by way of us contacting and investigating Charlene's disappearance," said Cooper.

Police are hoping anyone with information about Voight will call them. Her family is hopeful that information could lead to finding their loved one.

Beier will be back in court on July 20. He's being held on a $75,000 bond.
