Charges Dismissed Against Adams County Deputy

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - The Arapahoe County District Attorney on Thursday dismissed sexual assault and false imprisonment charges against Adams County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Belmont.

"Mr. Belmont reports that he was pleased with the District Attorney's decision and the judicial process fairly ran its course," said Belmont's attorneys Reid Elkus and Ryan Coward.

Belmont was arrested in June 2014 and charged with raping and kidnapping his wife during a domestic violence incident.

Belmont, 42, has been an Adams County Sheriff's deputy since 2004. His attorneys say prosecutors dropped the case during a motions hearing "citing a lack of credible evidence."
