Centennial Home Damaged In Fire, Candle Blamed

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - Fire damaged a home early Tuesday morning in Centennial. Investigators believe an unattended candle was to blame.

South Metro Fire Rescue responded to the house on the 19100 block of East Briarwood Drive. Firefighters arrived to flames showing and heavy smoke conditions.

Three adults and three children were able to evacuate the home without injuries. A small dog did not survive. The home sustained heavy damage.

An unattended candle that was too close to combustibles caused the fire.

South Metro Fire advises homeowners to blow out candles and keep candles at least 12 inches away from anything that can burn.
