CDOT Taking Action To Stop Street Racing On Stretch Of Federal Boulevard
DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado Department of Transportation is taking steps to stop street racing on one of Denver's busiest roads.
CDOT is spending $2 million to add medians, lights, traffic signals and crosswalks on Federal Boulevard between 52nd and 67th avenues.

The work is being done following a deadly accident in that area last November.

Residents told CBS4 street racing is a common problem in the area, and the hope is the added safety features can stop it.
A 2011 safety analysis by CDOT engineers mirrored those concerns and found a high rate of auto and pedestrian accidents happening late at night and early in the morning. While surrounding areas have been improved over the years, several blocks along Federal have been ignored.
