CBI's Top Arson Dog 'Sadie' Retires From Duty
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - A key agent at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is retiring.
Sadie is a 9-year-old black lab who has spent the past 7 years working as an arson investigator for the CBI. She has responded to nearly 500 fires.
in 2011 Sadie was the top law enforcement arson dog in the country, and according to the Humane Society, she's a model for the National Fire Dog Monument.
"Sadie is going to be retired with my daughter. I have a daughter in the fire service. She's with Brighton and Sadie is going to hang out with her the rest of her years," Sadie's partner Jerry Means said.
Sadie's already training her replacement, Riley, and both were honored with a big party on Saturday at Broomfield's Willow Run Feed and Supply. Riley put on a demonstration on how he will help investigators sniff our flammable material.
