CBI Holds Special Event At Capitol For National Missing Children's Day

DENVER (CBS4) - Wednesday was National Missing Children's Day and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation honored the missing children of Colorado with a special event at the state Capitol.

As of Jan. 1 Colorado investigators were working 220 cases of children missing longer than a year.

Part of Wednesday's event focused on prevention.

"We all need to work together to make sure that we educate ourselves and educate our children to make sure that we aren't creating victims in the future," CBI Director Mike Rankin said.

Experts recommend talking with children about methods abductors may use to get their attention such as offering treats or money, asking for help, or showing a puppy or kitten.
