Cattle Truck Crashes On I-70 Near Deer Trail, Cows Escape

DEER TRAIL, Colo. (CBS4)- A cattle truck crashed along Interstate 70 near Deer Trail and broke open the trailer.

Copter4 flew over the crash on westbound I-70 east of Deer Trail on Thursday afternoon where the semi was lying on its side.

The crash broke open the trailer and about a dozen cattle escaped. Some of the animals were seen crossing the interstate right after the crash.

It is not known how many of the cows were killed in the crash.

The driver was not seriously injured.

What caused the truck to crash is being investigated by the Colorado State Patrol.

Officials closed I-70 at mile marker 352 during crash investigation and cleanup. All lanes were reopened at 4:40 p.m.
