Cat Wakes Family After Fire Starts In Garage

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- A cat has been credited with helping a Westminster family escape a fire.

A teenage boy heard the cat making noise from inside the garage in the 3700 block of 85th Avenue. The teen then opened the door and discovered the fire burning in the garage and smoke came pouring into the home.

The smoke alarm went off and the family called for help.

Firefighters were able to limit the damage to the garage. An overheated rechargeable batter for a remote control car started the fire.
