Castle Rock Certifies Open Carry Votes

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4)- A judge has certified the special election results in Castle Rock where voters approved an open carry ordinance.

Both measures on the ballot passed; Measure A, which called for no restrictions passed with 50.8 percent of the vote and Measure B, which called for all measures regarding open carry need to be voted on passed with 71.2 percent of the vote.

With the results final, the open carry of firearms is allowed in all town-owned facilities and parks except for Castle Rock Municipal Court while in session.

The Town of Castle Rock is still waiting on a hearing date for a legal challenge to the election process filed in the 18th Judicial Court earlier this week. The town has received requests for a recount and will discuss recount procedures during its regular meeting Sept. 2.

All Town Council meetings are open to the public and provide time for public input. Tuesday's meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St.
