Carlos Gonzalez: Still A Rockie, And Couldn't Be Happier

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Carlos Gonzalez is still a member of the Colorado Rockies. And he couldn't be happier.

"I hope whatever they do in the future, is for the best for the club," he said. "And I would love to be a part of it."

Gonzalez doubled and reached twice during Friday night's 7-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. The slugger hit .386 with 11 homers and 24 RBIs in 23 games in July.

Gonzalez, a subject of numerous trade rumors, said he wasn't worried about Friday's non-waiver trade deadline.

"Whatever happens, happens," he said.

Gonzalez has spent most of his seven-year career with the Rockies. And he would like to remain in Denver.

"I still have two more years on my contract," he said. "I want to be here when the Rockies are good."
