Carjacking Suspects Crash Into Building, Detained By Police

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver detained two carjacking suspects on Friday afternoon after they crashed into a building.

It happened at Iliff and Kalamath about 2 p.m. Friday when police were pursuing the suspects.

They crashed the white Nissan Xterra into a building at Iliff and Lipan where officers took one suspect into custody.

Police tweeted out an update at 2:20 p.m. Friday.

The incident began on Sunday morning when two suspects stole the Xterra near Dartmouth and Sheridan.

The pursuit began on Friday when the carjacked vehicle was spotted by Englewood Police between Santa Fe and Federal on Evans.

"This is basically good police work. They BOLO-ed it out and the officer took it upon himself to be looking out. He spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it and they didn't want stop," said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

Two suspects were inside the vehicle when it was spotted, one was taken into custody right away but the second suspect got away. He illegally entered another business, took some keys and stole another car.

Police detained the second suspect right away.
