Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Chase Ends In Crash

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver arrested a suspect on Tuesday morning who was wanted in a carjacking that happened over the weekend.

Police officers in Lakewood first spotted the car just after midnight then officers in Denver saw it about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers tried to stop but the suspect led them on a chase. Officer executed a PIT maneuver which caused the driver to lose control and the truck slammed into five other vehicles at the Belcaro Motel located at Colorado Boulevard and Tennessee.

A witness saw officers move in for the arrest.

"And I'm assuming they couldn't open up the doors because they said, 'Fine! Just climb through the window!' because they just wanted to get them out and once they got out, officers told them to get down on the ground, they got down on the ground, handcuffed them, the ambulance came and took them away," said witness Sandy Ehlert.

Two people were arrested and taken to Denver Health with non-life threatening injuries. One suspect is a juvenile and the other is an adult.
