Cardboard Challenge Sparks Creativity In Cherry Creek Schools

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Students in the Cherry Creek School District used their creativity to repurpose cardboard into amazing creations for the Cardboard Challenge.

Students gathered for the challenge at Cherokee Trial High School Wednesday night where they showed off 650 items created out of recycled cardboard.

It's part of a global initiative challenging kids to use their imaginations to create unique works of art.

"We have everything from mini golf courses to football stadiums and baseball fields to, last year we had a working piano," said Cherry Creek Schools Foundation spokeswoman Jill Handen. "We want to encourage to spend some time creating something they feel good about."

Students from all grade levels participated in the challenge. Teachers say the cardboard challenge is a natural link to all the STEM programs in the district.
