Canon City Officer Shoots Suspect After Alleged Threats

CANON CITY, Colo. (CBS4)- A police-involved shooting in Canon City left one suspect injured. Police said they were forced to fire at the man after he charged at officers.

The incident happened Thursday morning on North Orchard in Canon City.

According to Canon City Police, a man with a knife was seen around 9 a.m. in the 2000 block of East Main in Canon City. He was making threats but had left the area by the time officers arrived.

A short time later officers encountered the same man and when he tried to run away, officers gave chase. During the chase the suspect turned and charged at officers.

One officer fired at the suspect, injuring him.

The suspect, described as a 28-year-old while male, was taken to St. Thomas More Hospital. His condition is unknown.

This is the second officer-involved shooting in Canon City in less than a week. A 32-year-old man was shot by Canon City officers on Saturday after allegedly stabbing an officer.
