Busy Intersection In Cherry Creek Remains Closed Until Tuesday Morning

DENVER (CBS4) - The busy intersection of 1st Avenue and University Boulevard in Cherry Creek remains completely blocked off Monday.

Approximately 100,000 drivers go through the intersection every day.

The closure is designed to finish a sewer maintenance project that's been going on since January. The intersection has been prone to flooding.

The intersection will be completely closed until Tuesday at 7 a.m. so crews will be able to finish most of the paving.

The intersection has been tough to get around or through during the construction, and on Monday, thousands will have to figure out another way.

Commuters can use Alameda, 6th or 8th avenues. Another route is Colorado and Downing or Logan, although those options aren't perfect.
