Burglar Gets Away With Tarantulas, Reptiles From Lakewood Pet Store

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Tarantulas, two Burmese pythons and a Nile monitor lizard are missing from a pet store in Lakewood after a burglary Tuesday night.

Security video at Jurassic Pets shows a man breaking in and removing the reptiles, which are valued at about $2,500.

Store manager Taylor Wells says the burglar is risking the safety of others if he sells the reptiles.

"I don't need someone selling an eight-foot snake to a 6-year-old kid who doesn't know what he's getting into," Well said.

Security video shows the Nile monitor lizard fighting to get away from the burglar.

The thief seemed to be familiar with the layout of the store.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lakewood police.
