Brush Fire Breaks Out In Elbert County
ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Numerous departments responded to a brush fire in Elbert County Saturday afternoon.
Elbert County Sheriff's Office said the grass fire started near the Ben Lomond Gun Club on County Road 105 in Ramah.
It began at approximately 1 p.m. and as of 2:15 had grown to 300 to 500 acres in size. Several structures were threatened, and one, an unoccupied bar, was lost.
The fire was 85% contained as of 2:55 p.m., but fire was visible as of 3:10 p.m.
Elbert County Sheriff's Office said the fire was out by 4 p.m. Crews are working on hot spots and mopping up.
The fire is believed to be accidental and deputies are investigating. The fire's point of origin is the shooting range.
There were no injuries and no loss of occupied structures.
