Broomfield Using Rubber Buckshot To Deter Coyotes

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - Broomfield is ramping up its effort to keep people and pets safe from coyotes.

Open space officials say they are using rubber buckshot to keep coyotes away from neighborhoods. It's meant to scare the animals and not injure or kill them.

The decision to use rubber buckshot comes after two close encounters with coyotes in the past week.

The buckshot is an alternative to using paintballs, which are less accurate at long range.
