Broomfield Police Search For Teens Involved In Drive-By Shooting With Airsoft Gun

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Broomfield are searching for a group of teens who targeted a 15-year-old girl with a pellet gun.

The girl was sitting at a corner near Broomfield High School when police said she heard the sound of an airsoft gun. She then felt pain in her stomach and realized the teens were aiming at her. Fortunately, police say she was hit with a pellet and not badly injured.

Police won't release the victim's identity because she's a minor. School officials say they don't believe the girl saw her attackers.

Police say two to four teen boys drove past the corner of Daphne Street and Eagle Way in front of the school when they fired at the girl. She wasn't able to get a good look at them.

School officials say it was an isolated incident.

"It makes you feel really unprotected like, when you're at school you're supposed to feel safe and surrounded by people that are there to protect you," Broomfield High student Victoria Green said. "Just knowing that a girl could just be shot so simply and then not knowing who did it, that's just a really scary thought.'

Many students were outside in the area at the time and should call police if they witnessed anything suspicious.

Police are looking for a late model, white, four-door hatchback vehicle the boys fled in.
