Nothing Suspicious Found In Search After Broomfield High School Evacuated

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - Students and staff at Broomfield High School have evacuated the school several hours before normal dismissal time and were asked to leave the campus. The Boulder Valley School District said a search of the school turned up nothing suspicious and the threat was found to be unsubstantiated.

Broomfield police searched the school as a precautionary measure and did not find anything suspicious.

BVSD released this statement, "Broomfield High School will reopen tomorrow. However, it will remain closed for the remainder of the day, and all BRHS after-school activities, including away events, have been canceled. Counseling staff will be available to support students at Broomfield High. Broomfield Police will continue to have increased presence around our schools."

School officials also confirmed there was no threat to other schools in the district.

The evacuation on Thursday followed a series of reports made to Safe2Tell about a possible threat at the school.

Boulder Valley School District officials said on Twitter just after noon that they are "unable to determine the credibility of the threat." They said no other schools were threatened, but other schools in the district are on heightened alert.

BHS students were taken by school buses to their normal stops. Parents coming to pick up their students were being told to do so at Broomfield United Methodist Church.
