Broncos Will Win Super Bowl, So Says Computer

DENVER (CBS4) - You heard it here first: The Denver Broncos will win the Super Bowl this year.

By one point.

Against Seattle no less.

At least a computer thinks so.

The website PredictionMachine.com says the Broncos emerge victorious in 25.1 percent of 50,000 computer simulations that the "Predictalator," as it's called, runs of the 2014 NFL season.

The average score of the Broncos-Seahawks rematch: a squeaky 24-23 win.

Seattle wins 22.6 percent of the time, the prediction machine says.

CBSPhilly.com published the most common playoff bracket and each team's playoff probabilities.

Lest you criticize a machine for trying to pick winners and losers in a sport with so many incalculable human factors, consider that the Predictalator claims it has correctly guessed roughly 55 percent of games against the spread (read: it's more difficult) since January 2010.

It says its algorithms measure strength of schedules, relevant player statistics and players' health.

The site predicts the Broncos are a lock to make the playoffs -- doing so 94.2 percent of the time -- and their biggest strength is Peyton Manning (well, duh) and their biggest weakness is the defensive front seven because of injury concern.

Last season, in case you forget, the Broncos lost to the Seahawks 43-8 in a Super Bowl no computer could have foreseen.
