Broncos Replace Turf With Sod At Practice Field

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - The Broncos will hold outdoor practices on grass instead of turf from now on, the team announced on Wednesday.

The synthetic turf field at the Broncos Dove Valley headquarters was removed last week and new sod is being installed. It's Kentucky bluegrass grown by Graff's Turf Farms in Fort Morgan.

The team says the new grass will be ready in time for the Broncos OTA workouts and will be in place at training camp this summer.

The team will still have the opportunity to practice on a synthetic field when weather forces them to hold practices at their new indoor facility at their headquarters.

The Broncos are also changing the playing surface at their stadium. Work is currently underway at Sports Authority Field at Mile High to put in the Graff's grass there as well.

The synthetic practice field was installed in 2003.
