Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman Not Content As A Backup

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - At Dove Valley the Denver Broncos have already handed the starting running back job to Montee Ball, so now it's a battle of backups.

There's former Colorado State University running back Kapri Bibbs -- No. 35 -- only a rookie. There's second-year player C.J. Anderson -- No. 22. And then there's Ronnie Hillman -- No. 23 -- who fell out of favor last year with a nasty case of "fumble-itis."

But Hillman isn't content with being a backup. On Monday after the offseason workout he said he still thinks he can be the starter.

"You've just got to come to work with a chip your shoulder. It's easy to say that you're going to practice hard and work hard, but you've just got to show it, and right now it is the time," Hillman said. "These next couple months are crucial … the job is open and I'm going after it. I'm not working to be No. 2."

The Broncos next scheduled organized team activity offseason workout is scheduled for June 16-19.
