Brock Osweiler Makes For Interesting Free Agent Next Year

DENVER (CBS4) - Now that the Denver Broncos have Demaryius Thomas locked up for the next five years,. Team Executive Vice President John Elway can turn his attention to next year's free agents.

Von Miller is the big one and it's going to take big money to keep him in Denver, but there are other players as well -- Malik Jackson, Derek Wolfe, David Bruton -- and an interesting one in Brock Osweiler.

While the Broncos have a good sense of how valuable Miller is, Osweiler has never started a game and only attempted 30 passes. So as Elway makes his priority list for 2016, where will Osweiler fall?

"We're going to do the best we can to try to hold everybody together. Anytime you've got a good football team with a lot of good football players it's going to make that difficult," Elway said. "Brock is another one that's going to be up, so he's going to be part of that conversation and we'll see what we do from there."

He said Gary Kubiak's offense is good fit for Osweiler and they'll be watching him closely in preseason.

"Obviously he's going into his fourth year, but he's going to get a lot of playing time in preseason. We drafted him four years ago in the second round to be the heir-apparent to Peyton … he's made good strides over the last three years and now we're going to see exactly what he has."

Broncos training camp begins July 31.
