Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said the improvements will create a new gateway into Denver.

"We certainly want to create a more friendly environment going up and down Brighton Boulevard. This redesign and renovation of Brighton Boulevard is certainly going to create a gateway, a more beautified gateway to a wonderful downtown area," said Hancock.
