Breckenridge Expands Smoking Ban
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- The Town of Breckenridge has expanded its smoking ban to include e-cigarettes and more outdoor spaces.
The amendment to the current smoking ordinance will go into effect on March 14.
E-cigarettes and similar products will be prohibited in all areas where tobacco use is prohibited.
Smoking in public spaces will be more limited. Currently there are 29 areas where smoking is prohibited, including public meeting spaces, gondolas, courtrooms, child daycare facilities, food service establishments, bars, etc.
Smoking will now be prohibited in the following additional areas:
· Town of Breckenridge controlled parks, open space, indoor/outdoor sports areas and facilities, athletic fields, and playgrounds;
· Recreation Path;
· Golf course facilities and grounds, excluding the course of play;
· Within 10 feet of public transit waiting areas.
Business Entryways - Smoking will not be allowed around the entryways to businesses. In definition, the entryway is defined as within a 10 foot radius of a doorway leading into a building or facility.
The Breckenridge Police Department will be working with local restaurants, bars and other establishments to ensure understanding and compliance by customers.
