An Ironman Triathlon is a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike race followed by a marathon run.

Daerr turned out to be the fastest of them all.

"Hearing your name all day long on the run course; that's a huge advantage. It just gives you a reason – every time you hear a word of encouragement it just kind of refocuses you back to get the job done," Daerr said. "I'm pretty tired but it was worth it."
