Boobies Rock! Founder Sentenced In Separate Fraud Case

BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) - A man accused of running a fraudulent breast cancer charity has been sentenced in a separate case in which prosecutors say he stole more than $1 million through a scheme involving the sale of donated mattresses.

The Adams County District Attorney's Office says 36-year-old Adam Shryock was sentenced Monday to 90 days in jail and four years of probation. He pleaded guilty in March to theft and charitable fraud.

Prosecutors say Shryock collected mattresses returned under a warranty program, claiming they were being donated to Ecumenical Refugee and Immigration Services and distributed to refugees. He was accused of selling most of the mattresses for profit.

Shryock founded Boobies Rock!, a breast cancer charity that was the target of a 2013 lawsuit from the Colorado Attorney General's Office.
