Body Of Air Force Pilot Returned To Colorado
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — People in western Colorado are honoring an Air Force pilot who was killed while on a deployment to fight Islamic State extremists.
People holding American flags lined up to watch the procession carrying Capt. William DuBois' casket through Grand Junction on Thursday.
Flags on state buildings will remain lowered through Sunday, when DuBois' funeral service will be held at Rifle High School.
DuBois was killed Dec. 1 when his F-16 jet crashed before he began the combat portion of his flight.
DuBois, from New Castle, Colorado, was assigned the 77th Fighter Squadron based at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. He leaves a wife he married two days before his deployment.
