Male Suspect Found Dead After Deputies Find Female's Body In Highlands Ranch

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Sunday asked the public to avoid the area near Park Central Drive in Highlands Ranch while there was an active crime scene at a shopping center.

A woman's body was found inside a vehicle at the Central Park Shopping Complex at the intersection of Lucent Boulevard and Park Central Drive.

A shelter-in-place order for area residents was lifted at around 12:30 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

A half-hour later, police found the body of a man inside another vehicle. The location of that vehicle was not disclosed, but the occupant was connected to the woman's death.

Monday morning, the Douglas County Coroner's Office identified the deceased woman as Jamie Sullivan, a 49-year-old female from Highlands Ranch. The coroner's office also named the deceased man - Art Valentine, 55.

DCSO officials told CBS4's Conor McCue on Sunday the male suspect and the female victim had an "intimate relationship."

"We do not believe there are any other victims, we do not believe there are any other suspects, and we believe the area is safe," Ct. Weekly said.

The shopping center crime scene was near the UCHealth Highlands Ranch campus.

UCHealth officials told CBS4 that extra security personnel were activated and access at some locations was restricted, but "hospital operations are normal."
