Much of the fire was extinguished by 3 a.m. When firefighters were able to enter, one person was found deceased inside a closet.

It is not clear if the person died as a result of the fire of from a separate incident.

"The medical examiner was on scene and those are all things they will be looking into as the investigation unfolds. This fire is being called suspicious in nature at this time but anything beyond that we just don't know yet until we're able to put some of the pieces together," said Denver Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Taylor.
