Bobcat Gets Caught In Soccer Net

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) -- A bobcat got entangled in a soccer net in the Golden Hills area of Colorado Springs.

"This bobcat was lucky. It escaped with its life. Others injure themselves or die frantically trying to escape," wildlife officials said on Twitter Monday morning.

Officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife urged people to take down sports nets when they are not in use to prevent situations like this.

A neighbor heard the desperate bobcat thrashing in the net and approached it, hoping to free the animal, according to Bill Vogrin with CPW. Vogrin said people should never approach a trapped wild animal.

The neighbor called CPW and while on the phone, the bobcat managed to claw itself free and got away.

Vogrin said they don't know how long the bobcat was stuck -- it could have been trapped there all night. Bobcats are most active at dawn and dusk.
