BLM Plans Prescribed Burn In Canon City Area

CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — The federal Bureau of Land Management plans a prescribed burn to control wildfire danger about 15 miles northwest of Canon City.

The BLM said Tuesday the burn could take place in early to mid-October depending on weather conditions and how dry the vegetation is.

The burn is planned for about 385 acres in the Trail Gulch area. It's designed to improve wildlife habitat and domestic grazing as well as reduce wildfire danger.

The BLM says smoke will likely be visible to people in the area and could linger when temperatures get cooler in the evening.
