Oklahoma, Texas Crews Arrive To Assist Xcel In Restoring Power

DENVER (CBS4) - Approximately 26,000 Xcel Energy customers were still without service Thursday morning. In the past 24 hours, 290,000 customers across the metro area experienced power outages.

Mark Stutz from Xcel said 90% had been restored, but hoped that all would be back to normal by the end of Thursday.

Many of the issues are related to snow on the power lines, ice buildup, high winds, and other debris on the lines. In northern Colorado, poles are down.

The hope is that warmer temperatures on Thursday will cause some of the ice and snow to melt, helping to restore service.

Crews from Oklahoma and Texas arrived to assist the power restoration work.

Northern Colorado including Fort Collins and Greeley, as well as parts of the metro area east and west of Denver, will be targeted for repairs on Thursday.
