Beer Festival Honors Victim Of Aurora Theater Shooting

DENVER (CBS4) - The Copper Kettle Brewing Company in Denver hosted a special beer festival Sunday to honor the victims of the Aurora theater shooting

The fifth annual Night To Remember honors Alex Teves, a member of the brew club, who was 24 when he was killed along with 11 others in 2012.

More than 30 breweries were in attendance on Sunday at Denver's Four Mile Historic Park.

All proceeds from the event go to the ACT Foundation, short for Alex C. Teves. The group provides funds and opportunities to students with unique needs.

Organizers say Alex would have been proud.

"He loved good craft beer. He loved being around good friends and family. He would have loved this band today so we do this specifically to be truly all about Alex," said Kristen Kozik from Copper Kettle.

Organizers hope to have raised $30,000 from Sunday's event.
