Beaver Creek Fire Grows To 6,235 Acres

WALDEN, Colo. (CBS4)- The Beaver Creek Fire in Jackson County near Walden has burned 6,235 acres in heavy beetle kill forest.

The fire continued to burn actively overnight with spot fires and new ignitions near the Colorado-Wyoming border.

Firefighters continue to work to keep about 60 cabins in the area safe.

Crews have also been warned about the additional dangers posed by pine beetle kill in the fire lines. What sparked the fire on June 19 remains under investigation.

There are nearly 500 firefighters battling the blaze.
