VIDEO: Bear With Munchies Tries To Steal Entire Dumpster From Marijuana Dispensary
LYONS, Colo. (CBS4) -- A bear that apparently had the munchies tried to steal an entire dumpster from behind a marijuana dispensary in Lyons. Tim Crouthers, who runs The Bud Depot, says an employee alerted him to the problem.
"He came to me just asking for help what to do because he couldn't find the dumpster," he said.
With plenty of security cameras in the area, he turned to the video.
"The lock was still intact, it was just that he completely ripped this panel off," Crouthers said
At around 11 p.m. last Thursday, a black bear came to their complex looking for dinner.
"This is the great part, he comes in, he starts looking around and is checking if the coast is clear," he laughs.
In the video, you can see the bear stand up on its hind legs, pull the trash bin out of its spot, spin it around and pull it through a gate that is barely wide enough.

"A little bit of shock. Laughs, lots of laughter. The video is hilarious," Crouthers said.
For nearly two hours the bear fumbled with the bin trying to get what was inside, a mixture of food waste and maybe a small amount of discarded marijuana.
"He was trying to get high… No," Crouthers laughed. "I don't think so.
A bar across the top of the bin accompanied by a lock made sure the bear went home hungry.
Crouthers said they did find the dumpster eventually; the bear pushed it through the entire parking lot more than 50 yards away.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife tweeted the video with the comment "No reward for this bear," along with information about living with bears.
