Base Worker At Buckley Air Force Base Detained Following Threatening Remarks

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Aurora responded to Buckley Air Force Base Saturday afternoon to assist with road closures following an incident involving a threat.

According to authorities at Buckley Air Force Base, the 6th Avenue gate had to be closed "as security forces personnel respond to threatening remarks and detained a base worker as a result."

East 6th Avenue from North Telluride Street to the 20000 block (Coal Creek Rodeo Arena) was closed for the investigation.

"During a search of the subject's vehicle, precautions were enacted by base defenders that resulted in shutting down base access through the 6th Avenue Gate and setting up a routine cordon of the area to ensure the safety of the base members and the community," Sgt. Nicholas Rau with Buckley Air Force Base said.

Rau said missions at Buckley Air Force Base weren't disrupted by the incident.
