Barbecue Advertised As 'In Defiance Of The Islam Holiday Of Ramadan'

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4) - A barbecue with an alleged anti-Islam message is stirring up controversy in an East Colorado Springs community.

Officers became aware of Saturday's event when a flyer was posted at Fort Carson. It reads "In defiance of the Islam holiday of Ramadan" and features several offensive pictures.

The barbecue was allegedly put on by the Infidels motorcycle club. One man showed up to protest the event but says he was quickly confronted.

"A member of that group has come over and talked to me and he told me that what was in the paper, what was on the Internet was not accurate, that this was not anti-Islam. That's what the guy told me," said the man who was holding a sign that said "All religions welcome."

"The pictures and everything are very offensive," a Colorado Springs resident said. "It's like, 'You people don't have anything better to do than to stir up trouble?' "

Members of the motorcycle club wouldn't confirm they put up the flyer.
