A-Basin Reopens After Highway 6 Cleared Of Debris From Avalanche
ARAPAHOE BASIN SKI AREA, Colo. (CBS4) - It was very quiet Tuesday morning at A-Basin.
The Summit County ski resort was closed because it was inaccessible all morning. Avalanche prevention work had shut down the roads that lead there.
Crews worked to clear debris from an avalanche that was intentionally set and spilled onto Highway 6. The highway was cleared and A-Basin reopened at approximately 1 p.m.
Loveland Pass was also closed.
HWY 6 ALERT CONTINUED: Crews are working to clear debris. Timing of opening is unknown. Loveland Pass is also closed at this time.

A-Basin executive Alan Henceroth described the slide in a blog entry:
"The Professor had a big slide that just touched Highway 6 putting a small amount of debris on the highway and dusting stuff down at the west end of the Early Riser Lot. The Widow had a very significant slide putting upwards of 20 feet of snow and trees on the highway."
