Authorities Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting In Loveland

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Loveland on Sunday night.

The shots rang out at approximately 8 p.m. at 17th Street and Wilson Avenue.

According to police, the officer involved was allegedly shot while making a traffic stop. He returned fire but it is unknown if the suspects were injured.

"During the traffic stop he was shot, he called out over his radio that he had been shot and he returned fire. One of our other officers got on scene and was able to render aid and get assistance for him," said Loveland Police Sgt. Mike Holloran.

The officer involved was rushed to Medical Center of the Rockies for his injuries and is in the ICU.

Authorities were looking for a blue Jeep Cherokee with a temporary tag in the back window, but officers did find that vehicle abandoned a little over a mile away from the scene.

Police have still not identified or located any suspects and are asking anyone with information to please contact them.
