Authorities Identify 3-Year-Old Son Of Officer Who Died In Accidental Shooting
OAK CREEK, Colo. (CBS4) - The son of a Steamboat Springs police officer somehow got hold of his father's gun and shot himself.
The tragedy happened on Thursday at the family's home in Oak Creek, not far from Steamboat Springs. An ambulance met the family halfway as they were trying to get the child to the hospital.
Routt County authorities on Friday identified the boy as 3-year-old Gavin Stiles.
Investigators are looking into how the boy got a hold of the gun.
