According to Aurora Water, the main break closed westbound lanes on Iliff between Interstate 225 and S Peoria Street. Crews were still working to locate other utilities before digging at the scene as of 7:45a a.m. It wasn't until that took place that crews would be able to find exactly what part of the line was damaged and needed to be prepared.

Aurora Water confirmed a crash with a fire hydrant was connected to the water main break. According to Aurora Police Department, police responded to the crash at Iliff and S Xanadu Way around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, where police say a driver crashed into the hydrant and was believed to be intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI and brought to Arapahoe County Detention Center for booking.

One lane of westbound Iliff was reopened close to 8:30 a.m. Monday, but Aurora Water tweeted< crews would likely be in the area most of the day, so all lanes would not be back open until evening rush hour. Drivers were advised to use either E Yale Avenue or E Mississippi Avenue as alternate routes during the morning commute.

There was no information about the estimated time it would take to fix the main break.
