Aurora Teen Struck By Street Racing Driver Dies

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – Authorities are still searching for a driver who hit a teenager while street racing Sunday night.

The victim, 17-year-old Louis Andrew Guerrero-Sanchez, died in the hospital Tuesday night.

Police said they're following several leads and called it a tragic crash.

They say the driver of a BMW in the race was trying to pass Guerrero-Sanchez while he was making a turn and slammed into his driver side door.

The driver and other passengers in the BMW ran from the scene leaving Guerrero-Sanchez seriously injured as well as the two other passengers in his car.

Police say several witnesses also fled the scene who they said were more concerned about getting in trouble for an illegal street race than in helping someone seriously hurt.

Investigators believe those witnesses know something and are asking them and anyone with information to come forward.

Guerrero-Sanchez's sister believes somebody knows something.

"They just left my little brother like he was nothing. He was somebody. He was somebody important. It breaks our heart because nobody has come forward, and that's what we want. We want somebody to come forward," said Claudia Sanchez.

Officers also said the BMW was stolen after someone left it running and unattended in Denver last weekend.
