"I am not afraid, but I am cautious," said Ron Richard, a neighborhood resident.

Several residents told CBS4's Dillon Thomas the home the shooting took place in was a rental.

Police were on scene at the home for most of the day, Saturday, collecting evidence. A state-issued identification badge was seen in the driveway of the home, with an evidence marker next to it.

"I woke up to a knock on the door about 6:30, a couple police officers were out here," Richard said. "They asked me if I heard anything, unfortunately I did not. I slept through whatever went on."

Police did not release the identity of the deceased person. They also did not release information on possible suspects.

Those who lived nearby said the area was not immune to crime, and was even the center of a homicide investigation months prior.

"There have been police in this area a few times," Richard said. "It is edgy, in some places. There is crime, here and there. So [the homicide investigation] is a little shocking, but it is not too surprising."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Jamie Krieger at (303) 739-6113.
