Suspect arrested, 6-year-old girl returned to parents after alleged kidnapping

A 6-year-old girl has been returned to her parents and a suspect is in custody after an alleged kidnapping outside a convenience store in Aurora. The Aurora Police Department tweeted Sunday evening about the search for a stolen SUV that had a 6-year-old girl inside of it.

The suspect, SUV and girl were located about an hour later. The suspect has been identified as Kirk Abercrombie. He is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping, and felony motor vehicle theft. 

He was booked into the Aurora Detention Center.

The vehicle was reportedly stolen from a gas station at Iliff Avenue and Havana Street.
