Aurora Police Say Suspect & Victim In Mercer Drive Shooting Knew Each Other

DENVER (CBS4) - Aurora Police are investigating a shooting at the 18000 block of East Mercer Drive, a residential area between East Hampden Avenue and East Quincy Avenue in Aurora.

"When officers arrived on scene they found a black adult male victim on scene with multiple gunshot wounds. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased," Officer Diana Cooley with Aurora police said in a statement.

Cooley said the investigation revealed there was altercation between the victim and the suspect, who knew each other.

The victim has been identified Clifford Eugene Wilson, Jr., 33.

A neighbor said the family included an adult son and his parents, and that they are typically quiet. He also said he heard the dog barking loudly early Wednesday morning and police arrived shortly after.

The Major Crime Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigators were on scene and took over the investigation.
