Interstate 225 Reopens After Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Hit & Run

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Aurora shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 225 on Sunday night after a car struck and killed a pedestrian and then drove off.

The crash happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. and the car involved was located sometime after that in a different location. The driver was described as being a female.

So far it's not clear why the victim, a male, was walking on the highway.

"I have no idea where he came from." said Aurora police Lt. Jeff Turner. "We'll do our best to track that down. Why anybody would walk on the highway at any time, let alone at night, is beyond me."

The highway was shut down for several hours from Interstate 70 to Colfax.

The name of the victim so far hasn't been released.
