Aurora Police Arrest Suspect In 2005 Homicide

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that occurred in 2005.

Members of the Aurora Police Fugitive Unit arrested Jon Harrington, 50, at his home in Denver.

He was arrested on a warrant for second-degree murder and is being held on a $250,000 bond in the Arapahoe County Jail.

The victim, Carolyn Jansen, was 43-years-old when she first went missing. Investigators believe she may have been killed in early 2002.

At the time of her disappearance, Harrington and Jansen were roommates.

On June 28, 2005 police were called to a house in Aurora when another former roommate of Harrington's had opened a "Rubbermaid" container that he was storing for Harrington.

The caller was reporting that he had made the gruesome discovery of human remains that were later identified as Jansen's.

Harrington was a suspect in the homicide once Jansen's remains were found but investigators worked to prove the case against him.

The Aurora Police Department's Cold Case Detectives worked with the Arapahoe County District Attorney's Office to arrest Harrington.
